Ameen is a second-year Economics and Management student at Brasenose College. He initially became interested in finance through his interest in economics and the impact of the macroeconomic climate on financial markets. After work experience in the industry and his time at OAF, he is interested in the buy-side due to its autonomous and meritocratic nature. He loves spending time with his 2 cats, playing tennis and is a big Arsenal fan.
Ishan is a second-year Economics and Management student at Brasenose College. He took a couple online courses during the COVID pandemic and really enjoyed how he could utilize his knowledge right away through paper trading. As he became more experienced, he has come to appreciate the mix of qualitative and quantitative aspects of finance. Ishan enjoys watching and playing basketball and watching American football. He is also a big poker player.
Kiersten is a second-year Economics and Management student at Christ Church. Kiersten has been super interested in the academic side of financial theory for a long time, with Robert Shiller’s intro to finance course really kicking things off. There was also a Trading 212 craze in Year 8 in her school, which contributed, as well as her liking for reading popular finance books and keeping up with all the news. She also enjoys philosophy, speciality coffee, food, and poker.
Grace is a third-year Physics and Philosophy student at St Edmund Hall. She was drawn to the analytical side of finance after learning about corporate strategies and financial products through sustainability research and joined the MT'23 bootcamp to learn how to apply this to investing. Outside of finance, she is involved in the university filmmaking scene and enjoys creative writing and yoga.
Aldrick is a second-year Economics and Management student at Worcester College. His first exposure to investing was when he got a personal trading account just after high school. Since then, he's interned in banking to further explore the finance industry and his participation in stock pitch competitions drew him to the buy-side. What he finds most interesting is the fact that every stock is unique, hence he finds that investing never gets boring. Aldrick enjoys playing rugby and golf. He's also a big foodie, especially for good ramen and sushi (both unfortunately rather scarce in Oxford).
Himanshu is a third-year Mathematics and Computer Science student at St Hugh’s College. The dynamic and objective nature of the markets fascinates him. Engaging in an internship in machine learning and quantitative research exposed him to the dynamic and highly quantitative nature of the trading world, especially using quantitative tools to exploit inefficiencies in the markets. He also enjoys philosophy, lifting, and cooking.
Luke is a third-year Mathematics and Computer Science student at Magdalen College. His interest in finance and the buy-side was sparked by a previous internship at GIC and an interest in probability. Outside of OAF, he enjoys video games and contract bridge.
Melody is a second-year Economics and Management student at Jesus College. She became interested in finance while watching Succession. Understanding almost none of the technical plot, she was forced to look up corporate finance and the associated vocabulary to enjoy the show. After its finale, she joined the MT'23 bootcamp to learn about finance and investing more formally. Outside of finance, Melody is a film aficionado, able to watch as many as 70 movies in a single month. She loves Westerns, silent comedies, and psychological dramas.
Shao is a second-year Mathematics and Computer Science student at Christ Church. He has always had a passion for mathematics and modelling. Joining the OAF Quant Bootcamp brought him into the quantitative side of finance where mathematical tools could be directly applied to the real world. His interest in game theory has also led him to appreciate the myriad games of strategy and information that are played out in financial markets. He also enjoys hiking, running, and biking to explore new places. His weekends are best spent gallivanting around the countryside on his trusty cycle. He also enjoys stargazing on the rare clear nights in Oxford.
Russell is a second-year Classics student at Christ Church. He first got interested in investing at the age of 12 after reading the works of Peter Lynch and Ben Graham, which opened his eyes to the joys of buying a dollar for 50 cents. He loves learning about different businesses and solving complex puzzles, all the while doing something rewarding and meaningful. He spends the rest of the time reading about the great figures of history, travelling, admiring art, and playing the trumpet.
Lora is a second-year Economics and Management student at New College. Her interest in finance and the buy side was sparked during the pandemic when she began considering the future of the macroeconomy and the impact on stock performance. Having joined OAF, she has furthered her interest in the buy side and has enjoyed attending various insight days in this sector. Outside of finance, you'll find her on the tennis court, learning a new language, or out on a run.
Edouard is a second-year English student at Pembroke. He joined the OAF to learn more about the public markets following an internship in private equity last summer. He enjoys the excitement of seeing your reasoning play out in real time, and the challenge of dealing with uncertainty and the 'not-knowing' inherent in investing. He likes reading non-fiction (and lots of fiction for his degree!), classical music, cooking, and learning new languages.
Stanley is a first-year Economics and Management student at Brasenose College. He first became interested in finance via his academic study of economics - and was struck by the extent of the relation between the two fields. Having undertaken some work experience in banking, and exploring his interest in the buy-side via the MT'24 bootcamp, he was fascinated by the breadth of interesting companies he was able to engage with when investing. Beyond finance, Stanley has an Oxford Blue for squash, and also loves playing football and cricket.
Ethan is a first-year Engineering student with a strong interest in finance, sparked by his internship in private equity. He enjoys analyzing market trends, particularly in tech, and developing investment strategies. His passion for quantitative finance grew from his enthusiasm for leveraging technology, statistical arbitrage, and mathematical modeling to create trading strategies. Outside of finance, he enjoys snowboarding, frisbee, and playing the piano.
Atrijo is a first-year Economics and Management student at Merton College. His interest in finance started from a pitch competition in his high school years and various books about investing and start-ups. He is a risk taker and enjoys learning more about the world through various lenses. In his free time, Atrijo engages with photography and goes on long runs, with the occasional bout of stand-up comedy open mics.
Gabriella is a first year PPE student at Worcester College. She became curious about finance after reading FT articles and seeing how interlinked the macroeconomy and financial markets are. Recently she has developed an interest in investment in emerging markets. Outside of finance, Gabriella enjoys reading, seeing friends, and is a rower for her college.
Irvin is a first-year Economics and Management student at Keble College. He initially gained interest in finance after reading about the Gamestop saga. After hearing about OAF from seniors, he joined the OAF bootcamp in MT’24 to learn more about investing. Outside of finance, Irvin is also part of the varsity badminton team and enjoys eating and watching dramas.
Vishni is a first-year Economics and Management student at Exeter College. Growing up, her interest in macro finance began through her exposure to newspapers and developed through joining societies such as OAF. Vishni enjoys swimming and playing tennis in the warmer months of the year.
Daniel is a second-year Music student at Lincoln College. His interest in finance was catalysed after learning about music as an alternative asset class and the various firms that were buying it. Daniel is the organ scholar at Lincoln College. He produces his own music and plays ice hockey.
Li is a second-year Economics and Management student at Balliol College. After speaking to a senior that worked on the founding team of OAF, he was intrigued by how dynamic finance is. He loves taking risks and learning on the job. He adores music -having started writing songs after his first prepubescent heartbreak, he hasn't stopped since.
Evie is a first-year Economics and Management student at Christ Church. She first became interested in finance while studying A-Level Economics, enjoying the interplay between the macro and micro-economy, and financial markets. Insight programs, speaker events and OAF have contributed massively to furthering her passion for finance. She loves traveling and in her spare time enjoys reading, swimming, and playing hockey.
Peter is a second-year Philosophy, Politics, and Economics student at St. Hilda’s College. He first took to finance after witnessing the insider trading rampant in his hometown, Thailand. Now, he is particularly interested in the causal linkages between stock market performance and industrial development. In his free time, Peter enjoys playing classical music, cooking, poker, and watching F1. He’s also a massive golf nerd.
Alice is a second-year Biochemistry student at Oriel College. She was drawn to the intersection of finance and biotechnology, recognizing how strategic investment drives advancements in healthcare. She joined the MT'24 bootcamp to develop a structured understanding of finance and investing. Outside of finance, she enjoys traveling and exploring new cultures.
Simeon is a third-year Chemistry student at Hertford College. He became interested in financial markets during his time at school and particularly enjoys the investigative process of fundamental research. Rayner is a first-year Economics and Management student at Hertford College with a strong interest in financial analysis which started in high school. Besides being involved in the world of finance, Rayner is also an avid chess player with a Chess.com rating of 2000. He also loves hosting steak nights over at his kitchen and performing for his guests on the guitar.
Jamie is a second-year chemistry student at Brasenose College. In his free time, he enjoys travelling, playing golf, and walking his dogs. He is also interested in energy markets and commodities.
Alexandra is a third-year Physics student at St John's College. She has always been interested in mathematical models and how they can help us analyse and forecast events more accurately. She was exposed to stochastic methods for modelling neural networks in complexity in neuroscience, and after being introduced to how the same mathematical techniques are used in financial risk management and pricing models, she was drawn to applying modelling in the fields of finance. She also enjoys skiing and playing the piano.
Sam is a first-year Economics and Management student at Brasenose College, from Sydney. He became interested in investing after reading a book about investing during the financial crisis in early high school and opened my own personal account. He is a bit of a serial entrepreneur, having started several businesses both in Australia and the UK and is always thinking of the next big idea. He also enjoys diving deep into info about companies with a founder's perspective, understanding what they do and how they stand out from the market. He loves martial arts, having done Jiu Jitsu for 15+ years, and misses the beaches while in Oxford :(
Ryan is a first-year Economics and Management student at Harris Manchester College. His interest in investing began when he opened a brokerage account during the meme stock bubble, which has since evolved into a keen enthusiasm for the treasure hunt of under-appreciated companies and extensive reading about a broad range of industries. Outside of finance, he enjoys playing baseball (go Dodgers!), cafe-hopping, and planning his next holiday.
Tian is a first-year Philosophy, Politics and Economics student at Lady Margaret Hall. Her interest in finance was sparked by a family friend who described her job as a dynamic challenge—one that required staying current with global developments to gauge their impact on the stock market. Intrigued by this blend of intellectual rigor and real-world application, Tian began exploring a career in the sector. Outside of her studies, she enjoys netball, music, film photography, and reading.
Rohan is a first-year Economics & Management student at Harris Manchester College. His interest in public markets stems from an appreciation for storytelling and the art of crafting and interpreting narratives around equities. He is particularly drawn to the inherent competitive aspect of uncovering an edge by fundamentally studying companies through perspectives that are both creative and grounded. Travis is a second-year PPE-ist at Lady Margaret Hall. He is drawn to investing by how it cultivates a deep understanding of companies and pushes one to think critically about their business models. What he finds most exciting is finding, through thorough due diligence, dislocations and opportunities that have gone unnoticed by the market. Outside of finance, Travis loves learning languages (his dream job was previously to be an interpreter at the United Nations), World War II literature (both fictional and nonfictional), and cross country running (slow trots).
Feng Jianguo is a second-year Chemistry student at Oriel College with a growing interest in finance. His journey began after high school when he opened a personal trading account, hoping to turn pocket money into a hedge fund (spoiler: it didn’t happen). To sharpen his skills, he joined the MT24 bootcamp, diving deeper into financial concepts. While chemistry is his academic focus, he enjoys the analytical challenges of finance. Outside of work, he rows, runs, and socialises—sometimes all in the same day, with varying degrees of success.
Edward is a second-year Human Sciences student at St Hugh’s College. He has always enjoyed staying in the loop regarding macroeconomics and financial markets, but recently decided to channel this interest into some more concrete investment exposure and experience. He’s found the process very rewarding, and while frequently reminded of how much there is still left to learn, is glad to be at OAF where everyone is happy to share what they know.
