Lucy is a second-year Philosophy, Politics, and Economics student at Somerville College. She first got hooked on investing in high school when a friend gave her a trading account. She then went on holiday, forgot about it and lost a fortune – thankfully, it was a simulation. Since then, she’s been drawn to finance for the dynamism and exciting possibilities it offers. Lucy enjoys morning runs and the freedom of dance. She likes to visit galleries, theatres, or immerse herself in a good book.

Ashvin is a second-year Economics and Management student at Harris Manchester College. Ashvin’s interest in investing occurred by chance, stumbling upon old Buffett videos that drew out the beauty in investing: From there, he was hooked. Investing is an always-evolving competition and Ashvin believes that it is a fascinating and meaningful pursuit, always striving to allocate capital to its best use. He’s also an avid chess player, having played for more than half of his life, and enjoys lifting and a game of badminton. He’s always down for a hand of poker.

Kartikeya is a third-year Engineering student at Brasenose College. After reading about finance when younger, he chose to join the MT’21 Bootcamp and subsequently converted to an analyst role. Taking part in OAF has encouraged him further to pursue a career in the buy-side. Outside of finance, Kartikeya enjoys distance running and sailing, as well as philosophy.

Aakash is a second-year Economics and Management student at Merton College. His interest in investing stems from the enthralling combination of problem-solving and narrative-building required to analyse securities. He has explored this passion through internships in the financial space and working on stock pitches with OAF. Outside of finance, Aakash is a nationally ranked competitive Tetris player, and enjoys participating in coding competitions, speedcubing, and reading about geopolitics.

Celine is a second-year Economics and Management student at St Edmund Hall. She has long been curious about the evolutions of great companies, and joined the MT’22 Bootcamp to see how that interest can be applied to investing. Outside of finance, Celine enjoys skiing, playing the violin, and lifting.

Natasha is a second-year Economics and Management student at Exeter College. She became interested in financial markets and their dynamism following an internship in the trading team of a crypto startup, enjoying how there is always something new to learn. She joined the Oxford Alpha Fund in the MT’22 Quant Bootcamp, which expanded her interest in systematic investing. Outside of finance, Natasha’s hobbies include drumming, table tennis, and travel.

Titus is a second-year History student at Lady Margaret Hall. After reading a book on the characteristics of visionary companies that consistently outperform their peers, he joined the MT’22 Bootcamp to understand the practical process of identifying these firms. Titus enjoys reading historical memoirs, surfing and travel.

Aldrick is a first-year Economics and Management student at Worcester College. His first exposure to investing was when he got a personal trading account just after high school. Since then, he's interned in banking to further explore the finance industry and his participation in stock pitch competitions drew him to the buy-side. What he finds most interesting is the fact that every stock is unique, hence he finds that investing never gets boring. Aldrick enjoys playing rugby and golf. He's also a big foodie, especially for good ramen and sushi (both unfortunately rather scarce in Oxford).

Grace is a second-year Physics and Philosophy student at St Edmund Hall. She was drawn to the analytical side of finance after learning about corporate strategies and financial products through sustainability research and joined the MT'23 bootcamp to learn how to apply this to investing. Outside of finance, she is involved in the university filmmaking scene and enjoys creative writing and yoga.

Russell is a first-year Literae Humaniores student at Christ Church. He first got interested in investing after reading the works of Peter Lynch and Ben Graham, which opened his eyes to the joys of buying a dollar for 50 cents. It is wonderfully satisfying to learn and debate about different businesses, all the while doing something rewarding and meaningful. He likes reading theological tracts, thinking about politics, and honing his legal mettle in the world of returning officers.

Melody is a first-year Economics and Management student at Jesus College. She became interested in finance while watching Succession. Understanding almost none of the technical plot, she was forced to look up corporate finance and the associated vocabulary to enjoy the show. After its finale, she joined the MT'23 bootcamp to learn about finance and investing more formally. Outside of finance, Melody is a film aficionado, able to watch as many as 70 movies in a single month. She loves Westerns, silent comedies, and psychological dramas.

Maria is a second-year Economics and Management student at Pembroke College. Her interest in finance developed after taking her Financial Analysis module. She wanted to apply theoretical finance ideas to actual companies and investments. Maria was driven to learn more about the practicalities and processes of real investing, marrying empirical analysis with the narrative behind good investment companies.  Outside of finance, Maria is a keen University netball player and enjoys a good gym session. She also enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures and languages.

Himanshu is a second-year Mathematics and Computer Science student at St Hugh’s College. The dynamic and objective nature of the markets fascinates him. Engaging in an internship in machine learning and quantitative research exposed him to the dynamic and highly quantitative nature of the trading world, especially using quantitative tools to exploit inefficiencies in the markets. He also enjoys philosophy, lifting, and cooking.

Russell is a first-year Economics and Management student at Brasenose College. His interest in investing stemmed from understanding the disconnect between a good company and a good investment. He enjoyed the fascinating process of analysing a security and building a compelling narrative around it. Joining OAF and being surrounded by a community of like-minded individuals has further cemented his passion. Outside of finance, Russell enjoys reading, playing the piano, and visiting art galleries.

Kiersten is a first-year Economics and Management student at Christ Church. Kiersten has been super interested in the academic side of financial theory for a long time, with Robert Shiller’s intro to finance course really kicking things off. There was also a Trading 212 craze in Year 8 in her school, which contributed, as well as her liking for reading popular finance books and keeping up with all the news. She also enjoys philosophy, speciality coffee, food, and poker.

 

Dhruv is a second-year Philosophy, Politics, and Economics student at St Anne's College. Encouraged to start a paper portfolio in 8th Grade, he was fascinated by adding lenses from different disciplines, including fields of economics and politics, to understand the fundamentals of a business. Dhruv enjoys a motley jumble of music, from country to metal and everything in between. When not drumming, he can be found incessantly arguing (debating) as part of the Oxford Union.

Daniel is a first-year Music student at Lincoln College. His interest in finance was catalysed after learning about music as an alternative asset class and the various firms that were buying it. Daniel is the organ scholar at Lincoln College. He produces his own music and plays ice hockey.

Lora is a first-year Economics and Management student at New College. Her interest in finance and the buy side was sparked during the pandemic when she began considering the future of the macroeconomy and the impact on stock performance. Having joined OAF, she has furthered her interest in the buy side and has enjoyed attending various insight days in this sector. Outside of finance, you'll find her on the tennis court, learning a new language, or out on a run.

Shao is a first-year Mathematics and Computer Science student at Christ Church. He has always had a passion for mathematics and modelling. Joining the OAF Quant Bootcamp brought him into the quantitative side of finance where mathematical tools could be directly applied to the real world. His interest in game theory has also led him to appreciate the myriad games of strategy and information that are played out in financial markets.  He also enjoys hiking, running, and biking to explore new places. His weekends are best spent gallivanting around the countryside on his trusty cycle. He also enjoys stargazing on the rare clear nights in Oxford.

Li is a first-year Economics and Management student at Balliol College. After speaking to a senior that worked on the founding team of OAF, he was intrigued by how dynamic finance is. He loves taking risks and learning on the job.  He adores music -having started writing songs after his first prepubescent heartbreak, he hasn't stopped since.

Alexandra is a second-year Physics student at St John's College. She has always been interested in mathematical models and how they can help us analyse and forecast events more accurately. She was exposed to stochastic methods for modelling neural networks in complexity in neuroscience, and after being introduced to how the same mathematical techniques are used in financial risk management and pricing models, she was drawn to applying modelling in the fields of finance.  She also enjoys skiing and playing the piano.

 

Ishan is a first-year Economics and Management student at Brasenose College. He took a couple online courses during the COVID pandemic and really enjoyed how he could utilize his knowledge right away through paper trading. As he became more experienced, he has come to appreciate the mix of qualitative and quantitative aspects of finance. Ishan enjoys watching and playing basketball and watching American football. He is also a big poker player.

Judy is a second-year Biochemistry student at St John’s College. She really enjoys piecing together how a business works by researching a variety of sources. She also likes getting the chance to explore different industries and keep up with their latest developments/innovations. Outside of OAF, she enjoys all things music, travelling, and graphic design!

Ameen is a first-year Economics and Management student at Brasenose College. He initially became interested in finance through his interest in economics and the impact of the macroeconomic climate on financial markets. After work experience in the industry and his time at OAF, he is interested in the buy-side due to its autonomous and meritocratic nature. He loves spending time with his 2 cats, playing tennis and is a big Arsenal fan.

Carolyn is a second-year History student at Trinity College. She was introduced to finance through the Fundamentals Bootcamp and was drawn to the analytical rigour of investing. She loves the opportunity to take what excites her most about the study of History - taking huge swathes of information, teasing out patterns that deepen our understanding of change and causation - and applying it to the dynamism of financial markets. She also enjoys swimming, morning runs, and a good book.
